Here is yet another Igloo Theme release and as always it’s much better than its predecessor, in this case v3.2! Update is quite significant but most of changes are done in code so you might not see how much work was behind it. I think that this will be the last major update (for some time now) as I’m working on new theme that should also rock – Inuit Types.

Igloo theme got yet another update, my god it’s version 3.2 already :0 As always some now features were added but it is mainly just an update from last release. I focused on your feedback, eliminated all reported bugs and some other fixes I encountered myself. Most notable new feature is ability to show your favicon in modern browsers, if some of you don’t know what that is, visit this site.

Here is a short summary of new or updated features:

• Custom Read More Text (on homepage it is usually seen as Read more…, Read Full Post… or Read On…)
• Custom Favicon.ico (small icon to show up in modern browsers)
• Transparent Images in Internet Explorer (just ad -trans to your .png images, example logo-trans.png)
• Feedburner Feed Server choice in drop-down (if you transferred your feeds to google you can now change server for your feeds)
• New Dark Black style
• New Dark Green style

Other fixes:

• Search results title fix
• Custom templates fix (Please note: if you have any igloo custom templates, please update them by choosing a right template again )
• Author pages fix
• Image Gallery template fix (now displaying last 24 images)
• Left image align in posts fix

And as always delete your old igloo theme files before you upload new one – you won’t lose your previous settings!

Today, new Igloo theme has been released, it’s version 3.1 now! Another major feature was added, Breaking news option and some other enhancements + bug fixes. Breaking news are quite complex and I’ve had lots of headaches over this feature. Posts that are labeled with ‘breaking news’ category appear in 3 steps:

1. Small Alert box (this box will be visible for 12 hours)
2. Breaking News box (it looks like featured posts on homepage, this box will be visible for 7 days)
3. Breaking News Post is turned into normal one and is listed among regular posts (this happens when breaking post is more than 7 days old)

Other new features + bug fixes

• Integrated Image Caption
• Revised Feedburner management (you can now choose which feedburner server you’re using: http://feedproxy.google.com/ or http://feeds.feedburner.com/)
• Fixed Footer page management
• Improved Top page drop down
• Twitter plugin added
• Ideas and Tips RSS ticker revised (‘problogger’ and ‘dailyblogtips’ added)

Finally after few weeks of tweaks new version of Igloo came out. My main focus was on standardization of all elements, thus I’ve validated all my code (W3C) and made it compatible with WP theme requirements. I could take it to their repository but I’ll still wait a bit to get some feedback from you.

In this release no plugins are needed whatsoever,…from now on I just recommend them as major ones are now embedded into theme functions.

Some new features were introduced:

• Relative Dates in Comments – new
• Choose Blog Title over Image logotype -new
• Total Feedburner Management – new
• Show Feedburner Feed Counter (Chicklet) – new
• Custom Control Panel – new
• Exclude Categories/Pages from header – new
• Include Pages in Footer – new
• 3 layouts to choose from – new
• Option to hide Top Categories and Sidebar Tabs – new
• Embedded AdSense Support – new
• Child Pages Ready (up to 4 level drop-downs) – new

And design improved:

• Cleaner design
• Shadowing of top boxes
• Introducing new layout (2 column boxes)
• Better image border effect
• Fixed Widgets Design

And typography upgraded:

• Better H1,H2,H3,…H6 look
• Better Code Highlight
• 3 level bullets and numbering
• Better paragraph and line spacing

Also some features were dropped:

• Center Widget – It was ugly
• Custom Bookmarks – Much better plugins are out there
• 200×200 center banner – no center widget

This update is again quite significant. Some pixels were fixed and no bugs as none was found. A really big update was done on design, which has changed on all theme skins, it is now more SEO and user friendly. Typography has changed to >font-family:Georgia, Times, serif< on all major areas and now has more magazine-like look.

Also some new features were introduced, most notable is option to hide comments counter on home page. This is very important if blog doesn’t have many visitors from the start. Nobody likes to see all posts tagged with ’0 Comments’ so I’ve changed it to ‘Comment’.

And for conclusion I have to emphasize that my aim is to develop Igloo Theme to be better than even best commercial premium themes – Hopefully I succeed

This one is really big update as it took me a few days to fix all bugs and pixels and to implement new features that will fit with new WordPress 2.7 Coltrane. I made mistake with my last version, it is no major bug or anything, the problem was with style switching on front page. As I use the same release in my demo version I forgot to delete some useless style-switch drop downs and feedback link in released version 1.0.2.

You can delete this manually or just overwrite theme header.php file if you haven’t customized it of course. Please download latest version 1.0.3 here:
