Today, I thought about my whole WordPress involvement and how I got to the position I’m currently at. If I look back, I have to say my road was pretty bumpy and filled with many obstacles. I started as a freelance WordPress user and ended up as a professional WP theme developer and Usability expert. I’m aware there is a huge community of WP theme developers out there, that probably want to sell their own work but have number of obstacles in their way (just like i did): no brand, no marketplace, lame framework, lack of WP knowledge etc…

The idea is simple, me and my team of developers would put all our efforts to develop the best possible WordPress theme framework, which other community members would use to develop their own premium themes. These themes would be marketed under our own marketplace, under our own brand. We would attract new buyers and take care of nitty-gritty, so developers would concentrate on design and creative ideas related to it. Think of it as a themeforest, just with more attention on developers needs.

My BizzThemes platform is shaping up nicely, not as fast as I’d like to, but still at lightning pace. I’m currently very busy with commercial projects so I develop it in the meantime, but I still hope to release it as soon as possible.

This post, however, is dedicated to pricing structure for my bizzthemes – which is pretty hard to define, so here are some of the options I’m still considering:

• Having pay-per-theme pricing + club membership option (monthly subscription)
• Only club membership option (monthly subscription)
• Only pay-per-theme option (one-time fee)
• Only club membership option (yearly subscription)
• Pay-per-theme option (standard support included) + developer support as a bonus

BizzThemes – premium theme market that will provide WordPress Themes for Small Businesses, is nearing completion. Of course, there are actual themes to be made but I’m very proud of progress done so far.

I’ve decided to list some of themes that are in my opinion worth their money. Generally, I don’t like the premium concept as it breaches WP GPL rules but theme authors need to earn something to keep up with their work.

Obviously, most of the work comes from WooThemes, so it’s maybe good if you join their club membership to profit from future releases, though I’m not happy with their recent work. From all themes I’d pick Thesis Theme as most powerful and one I’ll probably use for my own blog in future.
