Hi Željan Topić,

I am really bowled over by your attention to detail. Be it the “Iso Therm News Theme” or the latest “Berita Business Theme”… you are really the most consistently professional WordPress theme developer I have seen in a long time.

I have experimented with a lot of premium themes in the past, but they all have been… like produced out of a factory with no real differentiating factor or attention to detail. Your unique themes are really refreshing and keep it up. And also, if possible, try to monetize your work. It’s really precious.

    Just want to comment about Indonesian and Malaysian language, yes we are based on the same root, Malayan (Melayu). So it’s not surprising that we share many words in common 🙂

I am no WordPress genius but i have worked with quite a few WordPress templates in my time, I have worked on this theme for HOURS but I cannot get the slider to work, any tips or advice? I already read your support guide, but my slider will not work at all, I am not talking about not displaying images, I am talking about how it just doesnt work at all, can you guide us how to set up the slider step by step.

p.s. could it be the mozilla firefox browser?

AHHHHH….its driving me crazy.

It may be my fault not yours but I simply cannot find out why the theme is not working like it should be. I deleted it from WordPress and reinstalled a new copy i just downloaded from this site, I deactivated all plug ins, I read all the directions five times, am I the only one who is having this issue???

I created both sample pages and sample posts and put the page ID in the correct place, separated by commas no spaces just like you wrote and…..nothing happens.

All i see is the static “about” page as the front page on my website. No slider, no nothing.

PLEASE HELP ME!

Thanks for the theme, it’s awesome! Unfortunately, my blog is in Dutch, so the relative date translation won’t work: the plural form doesn’t only add a letter (i.e. hour -> hours) but also changes the word (i.e. uur -> uren, which is the Dutch translation for hour -> hours).
Do you have any ideas how to change this? Otherwise, how can I disable the relative dates?

  Never thought of that,…I gues only option remaining is to edit theme files (single.php and archive.php). I will offer option to switch to classic date formats in next update.

Hi Željan , I am trying out the theme in my themetester , as I wrote in my previus comment, the problems I am having with the page name Home I have not figured out yet. I would like to change the pagename Home, to Hem, that would be the correct name in my country. I cant find it in your instructions. Perhaps you have som instructions you could email to me? I would hate to give up the theme,

Hi again, I have to ask another question, I try to find where Im supposed to put in text and picture to be seen in the slider, but I dont know where to do that. Is it the place where I create a new page… Or is it where I create a new post…? Probably another stupid question from me, but I have tried to figure it out for quite some time now…

Im not sure about how you mean with “include pages instead of posts”. First I hover over the media library to se the ID of the picture I have uploaded, (edit&attachment_id=129). I go to Front Slider Settings (in berita options) and I edit the commaseparated page ID to 129,134 (134 being the other picture) Then I go to media library again, take Show/View (on the selected picture, to get the url for the picture: http://www.grondals.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/1.jpg, and then I go to Pages, add page, and choose in the Featured image setting, Custom image location: I paste the url of the picture. And lets say I would like it to link to my Aboutpage, the destination link should be http://www.grondals.com/om/. I then click publish.

Aha, maybe you mean I have to create pages, and then hide them in the Navigations Settings in Berita Theme Options, and there I can see the page_id?

Hi again Željan , the theme lookes great and works perfectly, now I only have a couple more question:

1. is it possible to change the background color of the default logo, do I do that in the custom.css as it say in the description, or do I do it in the style.css.
OR do I copy code/text from style.css in to custom.css and just change the colors? (I am not a coder, that is why I probobly need to copy from style.css.)

2. does the colorchange of the default logo also make the changes to the color around the searchbox, or is that more difficult to do?

  Open style.css and see how colors and backgrounds are done. Copy lines you need into custom.css and change them to suit your needs.

Is it also possible to make the PSD available for download? I’d like to change the color of the arrows of the featured slider.

Btw, the font of the breadcrumb is Verdana in stead of Georgia, maybe you forgot to change it?

  Verdana is on purpose, it fits better with everything around….Georgia doesn’t work for small fonts.

I tried to align the grey stars for the lists of categories and twitter updates, but I couldn’t get them properly aligned. It seems like the twitter updates get extra styling, but I can’t figure out how it is coded.

To see the problem go to the demo, and see the difference between the twitter updates footer item and the recent posts footer item. The stars aren’t aligned properly. Do you have any options or tricks?

  Didn’t notice that they’re aligned differently, tnx for mentioning,…as alignment is off just for a pixel ot two I won’t release an upgrade but if you feel this needs to be corrected open style.css, copy attributes of twitter widget and paste them in custom.css, there you can edit them to suit your needs.

I uploaded the Google Sitemap generator, and it seems to be working. Many people seems to be recommending the “All in one SEO pack”. Do you think I should take that plugin to? Do you recommend that plugin?

Lovin’ this theme! Took a little bit of time to figure out, but considering how feature rich it is relatively straightforward.

Problems I noticed:
-The feature slider doesn’t appear to accept .png images.
-If a category has a non alpha character in the title, it won’t work as a tab – for example, for blogs I was calling the category Bloggin’ and because of the apostrophe the theme kept deleting the category # from the code.
-I also had to disable almost all previous plugins for this theme to work – I then reactivated the plugins I needed, and haven’t yet found what may have conflicted.
-Text/image replacement plugins like siFr and AnyFont aren’t compatible… perhaps if I adjusted code it would be.

Otherwise, though, a brilliant theme, and especially appreciate that its free!

Problem: captioned photos don’t seem to work. I tried playing with custom CSS without any luck. The captions fall outside of the grey area, and there’s little to no spacing around surrounding text.

Hi, absolutely love your theme. After fiddling around with permalink-settings, I get this error
“Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in…” when clicking on my blog-link in the navigation.

Tried to change stuff back, but the error remains – is there anyway to reset theme options?

    Feature light of course. A want to make fewer php querys and less css and javascript. By the way php-speedy doesn’t work correctly with your theme. The sidebar goes down. Any suggestions?

      Haven’t worked with php-speedy so I can’t suggest anything, sorry. Features in option panel don’t slow down theme performance as theme settings and theme front-end are separated…so if you wan’t to speed it up optimize theme front-end files.

        You should give it a try, very useful plugin for complex designs. Page load time decreases drastically. Also i have few questions about javascript: i don’t want to use featured article on main page, so can i disable “step carousel”? And how can i disable jquery totally, will it be painless for theme design?
        And one more request: please make more themes like berita. I’ve searched for something like it long time, your design met all my demands and i like your style very much.

Thanks for a great theme! I have a few questions:
1. Is it possible to change the gray stars, to some other picture?
2. in my blog posts, the date format is, 2 weeks, 1 day ago. Is it possiby to get it lika 2009/06/08 instead?
3. In the Berita Theme options, there is in the right column, where you can Add noindex tags. I have all of them unchecked. Do you recommend that? In the picture you have on this site, (where you show the Berita Theme options, you have all options checked… Whats the best do you think?

  Yes, open archive.php, index.php, single.php … and find lines where date is presented
  Yes, I recommend this as it has no value to your blog to index category, tag, author … pages

about the stars again, is it the “list-star-trans.png” that is in the berita/images folder?
Is it possible to change it to another picture, about the same size? And does that new picture end up at the same places as the stars….?

  Open “list-star-trans.png” in your favourite photo editor and change it to whatever you like. Try to keep the size and yes, new pic will end up in the same place.

Lovely theme. It’s exactly what I’m looking for to help a friend setup her site.

However, I’m having a bit of difficulty setting the Featured Images on the mainpage slider.

I’m using WordPress 2.7, and the first oddity I noticed was that the option for Berita Featured Image Settings could not be found in the New Post entry but instead on the New Page entry. I’ve uploaded the photos to my content folder (as well as the media library folder) and inputed the location of the file in the Featured Image Settings and published the page. I reloaded the page and the Featured Image didn’t show up. I’m currently using MAMP, so I do not think my permissions are the problem. The only other thing I can think of is perhaps the page assignment for the Slider. I don’t actually know the ID # of the Page (or if this even exists). I used to be able to see these #s in previous wordpress versions, but don’t know where they are on the present version.

Why can’t I get the photos to appear?

  Custom fields are displayed in page edit/add mode only as only pages work with featured slider on front page. When inserting page ID, go to Pages in WP admin, hover over page link and see which ID it has.

Thank you for making this theme available for free. This is a really nice theme.
I am toying on the idea of putting a flash gallery instead of the featured slider. I have found a free flash gallery. Do you think it’s possible to do with Berita? Sorry if this sounds a stupid question. I have zero knowledge in coding. But I can follow instructions =)

  edit style.css file where you’ll find all styles you need. If you’re not a coder I’d suggest you to hire one to help you out as this might be challenging for somene without knowledge of html+css.

Hey Željan,

Is there any way to control how much content gets pulled into the slider? I tried using the “more” option, but that didn’t have any effect. It’s pulling half of a line of text and that doesn’t look good. Is there a way to make an excerpt?

friend — i like this theme.. but somethign is AMIS in IE 8, tons of JS errors and it makes no sense.

1) in your change log, you mention that you removed suckerfish.js FROM the footer..
its still there in the lastest version.. (maybe you forgot to update that version?)

2) Message: Invalid argument.

Hi, I like the theme and I have no problems getting it to work properly however…when I test it in IE browsers I get the following issue:

document.getElementById(…) is null or not an object

If I chose to ignore the scripting error the theme works fine but on every IE browser I get the same warning pop up.

Hi, I can’t get this theme to work at all. After I upload it and activate it, the screen turns white and I can’t do anything!

I can’t activate any other theme either unless I completely delete the “berita” folder from my themes folder.

Anyone have any ideas?

  Very strange, I’ll test this out to see what could be wrong but you probably have some kind of plugin installed that causes this issue.

  Just tested it and it installs perfectly, few possible issues on your side:
  
  Make sure you have latest 2.8 version of WP
  Check if you have any plugins that are in conflict with theme
  Click Save button in theme options panel after you install it

Hi. I uploaded your theme to my WP blog. I’m using version 2.7.1. When I ‘activate’ the theme my blog is a blank page. I alos do not get a ‘preview’ in the ‘manage themes’ admin section.

Are there any issues with WP 2.7.1?

I love your theme and want to use it, but I have never seen any theme do this. I have 20 blogs all running WP… this is the best theme I have seen 😉

I presume that “Berita Business WordPress Theme” displays the SAME 6 ad spots on EVERY PAGE. I want it to display a different 6 ad spots for the full version (read more version) of every post? Can someone suggest the code modifications necessary to do that?

For example: This ( http://bizzartic.com/bizzthemes/berita/category/blog/ ) page has “excerpts” of various stories. Click the link(title) for any of those stories and the full text of that story(article) opens on a page by itself like http://bizzartic.com/bizzthemes/berita/2009/03/08/universal-youtube-near-deal-on-music-video-site/. I want that full text of the story page to have 6 different ads for all the different articles.

  You’re correct, I does display same 6 ad spots on all pages. If you want more magic to it, you’ll need some if loops in sidebar to make it work.

Hi Željan, thanks for this nice theme! Can you please tell me how to get the “BUTTON SAMPLE” button that you’ve shown on the sample slider page?

Also, I replaced the_content with the_excerpt in the featured slider, and only the first slide shows the excerpt and the second still shows the entire content. Can you advice, please?

After hours and hours and hours of looking for the perfect theme, I finally found Berita! Yay! However, I have a problem I haven’t been able to figure out. I am using the theme for a website that also has a blog page. I imported a wordpress.com blog (with only four posts) and though I now have the content on the new site, the permalinks don’t work (at all). I know this happens when importing a blog that has a different permalink structure, so I decided to just repost the old posts under new dates and as fresh posts (I created new posts rather than editing the old ones). I have the same problem with the urls. There are no permalinks and there’s no way to access the individual blog posts. What am I doing wrong? This is rather urgent, so I hope you read this soon!     I’ve taken a poke around the source files, and found the stepcarousel-setup.js which is referenced in the featured-slider.php
    
    The value for autostep is set to {enable:false, moveby:1, pause:6000} are these the values to modify to get auto scrolling working in Berita?

I have remove the blog sidebar code from the pages and I would like to remove the blog sidebar option from the dashboard also. When I remove it from widgets_functions.php. Footer section 3 disappears from my front footer. Thanks

    All styles are managed inside CSS file called style.css which you may find in the root of theme directory.

still having issues

1) in IE – errors are still there:

when I test it in IE browsers I get the following issue:

document.getElementById(…) is null or not an object

If I chose to ignore the scripting error the theme works fine but on every IE browser I get the same warning pop up.

2) how do i remove http://bizzartic.com/bizzthemes/berita/?cat=3
this — >>>>?cat=ID

this is for the blog posts, all other pages are permalinked and working, but this one shows ?cat=3

  1) You probably played with footer or header navigation and deleted to much code so js doesn’t operate like it should.
  2) I used this because some people use permalinks and some don’t – ?cat=3 works in both cases.

    if you go back 2-4 month ( my posts are above) and I did not hack anything yet — it was right out of the box and it had the ERRORS. Im not the only one asking about it.

i really like your theme, the attention to detail is amazing, however it does not seem to support SEO – friendly permalinks.

I tried to change my permallinks to

/%category%/%postname%/

and it didn’t like it, any idea why this would be?

  Permalinks aren’t related to WP themes but rather to htaccess settings – try creating it yourself if it isn’t created automatically.

  There are 3 footer widget sections. I guess you put all widgets in first one? Spread them across all 3 widget sections.

  Widgets should work, try disabling this plugin and try again – if plugin isn’t the issue than share a link to the site and I’ll advise more.

hi there. i think berita is awesome!
but i’m in trouble with the “front slider setting”.

I set page ID 2,4,68,70,72 to “Pick page”.
And click the “Save change”.

Then , I have 2 troubles in the slider.

1:
page ID 2,4&68 is shown in the slider. But other pages doesn’t appear.

2:
The button “right-arr.gif” is hiden behind the thumbnail. when I set page ID 2,4,68,70,72 to “Pick page”.(in case of 2 & 4, no problem)

I really love this theme, So I don’t want to give up to use this for my website.
someone give me a solution please.

  No, only pages for now – query is constructed in a way that it’s only possible to call either pages or posts. However if you want posts instead of pages, edit theme files yourself: open library/includes/featured-slider.php and edit query to call posts id’s instead of page id’s.

Had the same (minor) problem as Steven and Joey with your great theme Inuitypes in Internet Explorer: the site does work in IE 7 / 8 but wit a warning about missing code or argument. The error report states: “document.getElementById(…) is null or not an object”.

Have found a solution for now, and want your approval, or opinion. I opened the editor in WP, opened Footer.php and removed the next section, and the error report is gone…

  Thx, Peter, I’m aware of this issue but am working on bizzthemes.com platform at the moment so I cannot implement fixes to old bizzartic frame as new bizzthemes frame uses superfish dropdowns, which will be implemented to old free themes after platform is released.

hi there! i’m trying to find a way to add the button that you show on the demo. i looked at the instructions, but not sure where to add code. From instructions:

Also, there is no custom CSS file in the download that i found, so i would have to edit code?

there are two problems I came across while working on this.

1. Is there any way to make the 300×250 widget adsense ready?
2. Every letter in the navigation and the sidebar is small. Is there a way to change this?
